Frequently Asked Questions

The answer is: it depends. There is no one way of charging an EV and the duration needed to charge your EV will depend on several key factors:

  • Amount of charge needed
  • Charger type
  • EV model
  • Environment
  • Weather

Yes. Historically the cost of electric has always been significantly cheaper than petrol. Whilst this depends on the prices of electricity and petrol which can fluctuate, according to Zap Map Journey Cost Calculator; in 2021 Electricity price: 25p/kWh & Fuel price: 150p/litre. Per approx. 10,000 miles/year. Whilst the general costs of electricity and petrol are constantly changing, it is clear that electricity comes at a much lower price per kWh.

The cost of EV charging is also defined by which setting you are charging your EV in. For instance, home charging will often be faster than using public chargers.

Yes, you can charge any EV.

Although there is great variation between models of EV, all EVs are compatible with a 3-7kW charger, which is one of the most available in the residential environment and means no matter which EV you have, you will be able to charge it.

Most EVs are also compatible with rapid 50kW+ chargers. However, not all EVs can use rapid chargers at rapid charging rates. This means that if your EV is not able to charge at higher rates, to stop damage to your EV’s battery it will only charge at the highest rate it is compatible with.

If you are experiencing any problem with your EV charger, it is important to us that it is working again as soon as possible. Whilst it varies site-to-site, we recommend reporting any issues you may have with your EV chargers to your managing agent, or the charge point manufacturer so that we can find you the right support.

If you notice any signs of vandalism to EV chargers, report them to your managing agent as soon as they are notice and EV Park will make sure the charger is repaired as quickly as possible.

Depending on the nature of the repairs required, EV chargers can be fixed remotely upon being reported or in person by technicians. EV charging point repairs will typically take longer if in person assistance is required.

EV Park offers charging points that are ‘future-proofed’ by having:

  • The option to install larger electricity supply to support the addition of future chargers
  • The option to install dormant charging points
  • The capacity for induction charging
