The EV Chargepoint Grant
OZEV has recently changed the focus of its EV grant programme, which was previously dedicated to assisting individual homeowners in the transition to zero emissions transport through the EVHS (Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme) grant.
This grant previously predominantly supported individual homes with a driveway to get an EV charging point installed once an electric vehicle was owned. Since the scheme started in 2014 almost 140,000 domestic charging points have been installed with a total grant value of £69 million as of 1st April 2021. In the last year, close to 45,000 domestic chargers were installed to a grant amount of £17 million.
This statistic shows the growing demand for EV charging points at home where it is most convenient and cost effective to charge.
What's new?
As of the 1st of April 2022, the EVHS scheme was replaced by the EV chargepoint grant. The EV chargepoint grant is entirely dedicated to providing support to freeholders, landlords, property managers and social housing providers which will allow residents in apartment blocks which previously struggled to have a charging point installed.
The EV chargepoint grant allows freeholders or managing agents to provide EV-ready infrastructure on multi-dwelling developments so that EV charging can be accessible to their residents within their dedicated or communal parking spaces.
